Starting something from scratch is hard and extremely painful. You can be an expert in your field, but it’s a completely different world, where you’re going to be the one, who’s making major financial decisions and it’s an immense amount of stress and responsibility.
Startups are usually defined by and built on innovation and automation, but at the end of the day, as a founder, you need to be able to know “how to deal with people”
What exactly do we mean by ‘dealing with people’?
It’s easier to deal with systems, machines and anything that can be automated, but when dealing with people emotions come into play and that’s where you need to be able to put you EQ in play.
1. You need to know how to put yourself in somebody else’s shoes to look at things from their point of views.
2. If you want people working with you in harmony, you need make yourself pleasant and easy going for them to relate and respect you.
3. Lastly, you need to have some empathy towards their ideas, feelings and opinions because a leader that lacks the ability to empathize, can only succeed with data and we all know that there are situations that you need to use your gut feeling to be successful.
Overall, focus on being a true leader instead of just being a founder or an employer. Always remember, great leaders make great founders that lead your company to success. Without your employers teamwork, and support, you cannot go the distance to reach your goals. Cheers!
What do guys think? Is this something that you experienced before or can relate to?
